Camp 1870 is an extended-orientation experience unlike any other. Camp 1870 not only builds off of your Ram Orientation experience but also allows you to make excellent connections with other first-year students starting at CSU. This optional three day, two night program allows students to engage in exciting activities infused with CSU history and traditions including hiking to the A, community building, service and receiving an inside look into the CSU campus community! Designed by students, for students, this program allows the chance for faculty, staff, current CSU students, and other incoming first year students to meet and create meaningful connections before classes even begin. Students can expect an exhilarating introduction to CSU and the gain of a sense of purpose and belonging at CSU before even arriving on campus for classes.
Participants will have the opportunity to develop meaningful friendships, gain connections to the university, engage in service to the Fort Collins community and make memories that will last a lifetime. Camp 1870 harbors an immense amount of pride and is dedicated to honor the history that Colorado State University has grown from. Campers will meet faculty, staff, currently enrolled students, and other incoming first-year students while seeing first-hand what it’s like to live on campus. Participants will stay on campus in the residence halls, explore the 579 acres of land-grant heritage and get an all access pass to the CSU community.

How do I sign up? Reservations for Camp 1870 are available through your Ram Orientation reservation as an additional opportunity.
What to expect: First-year students will join a group of over 60 new students gaining an inside look to their CSU experience! The camp will be divided into discussion groups of 10-15 students and 2 camp leaders. These discussion groups (DGs) are a place where many Rams meet some of their closest college friends. Your group will also provide you with the opportunity to ask any questions you might have about life at CSU. There are a variety of exciting activities planned from competitive relay races, hiking the A, honoring the land-grant mission by participating in service, and exploring Fort Collins. This high energy experience won’t leave you disappointed!
