First 50 Days

First 50 Days includes programs students should attend the first eight weeks on campus.  By attending and participating in these programs, new students will have the ability to learn about involvement opportunities on campus, become part of the CSU campus, engage in community wide-events, and enhance their connection to being a CSU Ram!  As a new student within the first eight weeks of the semester, you should plan on participating in the First 50 signature events and consider attending other events on campus.

The Oval
The Fall Address has been a campus fixture for decades, giving University presidents the opportunity to welcome students to campus while presenting the state of the university. The picnic was added in 1997 – after a flash flood devastated campus and the surrounding community just a few weeks prior to the start of classes – to celebrate the resiliency of the campus and to look forward to a bright future. Come join the campus community for lunch on the oval for this annual tradition.

A Top Dawg Entertainment artist from Watts, CA. He recently was awarded the key to Watts. He toured with Kendrick Lamar on his sold out “Kunta Groove Sessions” tour. Featured on the Black Panther soundtrack with the single “King’s Dead” which features Kendrick Lamar, Future, and James Blake which won the 2019 Grammy for best rap performance.  In 2018 Jay Rock toured with Kendrick Lamar, SZA, ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, and Lance Skiiiwalker on the TDE Championship Tour. Jay Rock’s song “Win” was recently featured in a syndicated commercial for Google TV. His latest album, Redemption released last summer 2018, which debuted at number #15 on the Billboard 200. Tickets are now on sale and are selling fast! The Oval
Cans Around the Oval is a Colorado State University tradition, where students, faculty, and staff partner with the community members, local media, and area businesses to raise awareness about hunger in our community, as well as raise food and monetary donations for the Food Bank of Larimer County.  This event is Larimer County’s largest single-day food drive. New students specifically can get involved by donating any non-perishable food items or volunteer the day of the event.
