African American Women Dedicated to Excellence: This mentoring group is a time for heart to heart discussions about what it means to be a black woman. Who are the women who have influenced our lives thus far? How do we enhance our relationships between one another and others in our community? What does it mean to be a woman dedicated to excellence? Who am I? What do I want to become, and what is the legacy I want to leave behind? This is a guaranteed time where we will laugh, maybe even cry, we will truly be enlightened, entertained and develop a bond of sacred sisterhood.

Asian/Pacific American Women (A/PAW): Let’s get together! While being directly connected to the Asian/Pacific American Cultural Center (A/PACC) we will explore CSU, Fort Collins and ourselves. This group will be all about letting go of stress and getting together to have some fun. Food (lots of food), Wii, and Zumba are just some of the highlights of what our semester will look like. There will also be opportunities for you to suggest an activity, so bring some ideas! This group will be a great opportunity for you to get comfortable on campus and in the community, while making connections to other people like you!

Coffee Shop Book Talk: This is a group for those who love delicious coffee, good reads and great conversation! We will explore the many local coffee shops of Fort Collins, read a few books and learn some new things (like the difference between a light & dark roast and what ‘fair-trade’ really is). We’ll also check-in to some of the different events happening on campus!

CSU Cooking for Beginners!: Have you wanted to learn to cook, but never really got into it? Are you struggling with cooking ideas for college life? Is your idea of cooking, tossing something in the microwave and hoping it doesn't blow up? If you answered yes to any of these, this is the group for you! For your first semester at CSU, we will explore different easy, and affordable recipes together. We will learn together, make mistakes together, and have plenty of laughs together!

Divas of the Dirt: CSU Divas of the Dirt is a group of first-year woman interested in learning more about the outdoor activities Colorado has to offer. Throughout the semester we will be exploring the local beauty of northern Colorado while connecting with other active women. Together we’ll participate in a variety of outdoor activities which may include hiking, climbing, camping, outdoor cooking, backpacking and more. No experience required – open to women of all activity levels! We’ll challenge ourselves, make new friends, learn new skills and show the boys what die-hard divas we can be! Dog Lovers: Calling all dog lovers! This group is designed to allow students to interact with dogs and their faculty and student owners. In a variety of dog related activities we will visit dog parks, attend dog nights in Residence Halls, tour the CSU Veterinary Teaching hospital, and meet with the Guide Dogs organization. It's a great group to join of you might miss your dog at home or always wanted a pet of your own!!

Experiencing Local Music and Arts: Whether we’re walking to class, working out, or studying, we all use music in different ways in our everyday lives. This group helps new students adjust to the college environment by encouraging an open-mind through different genres of music and artists. Students will be encouraged to share their own passions, whether it's their favorite band, concert, or genre of music, to show how music is enjoyed from person to person. Meetings will include: music swaps, touring the University Center of the Arts (UCA), including the Percussion Studio, attending occasional free concerts and performances held at the UCA, attending shows and events at local venues such as the Alley Cat and Avogadro's Number to observe local music and acts, and touring recording studios.

Exploring Dance!: After the first three meetings, time and place may change due to the activities we have planned and the locations they are offered. Dancers of all levels and abilities (non-dancers and gentlemen too!) join us to explore many different types of dance on the CSU campus and in Fort Collins. We will be trying Salsa, Hip-hop, Blues, Swing, and more! The first three meetings will be from 8-9pm on Wednesdays on the CSU campus, after that meeting times will vary according to the venues we go to and the different events they put on. Everyone is welcome to join us as we explore CSU, Fort Collins, and make new friendships through dancing!

International Interests: International Interests is a group dedicated to exploring what the world is like outside of the United States. From traveling and volunteering to international business and education, this group uses exciting topic based discussions and active involvement to enable a better understanding of the incredibly diverse world we live in. Discussion topics will include tips for traveling on a college budget, learning about and preparing for study abroad opportunities, doing business in developing countries, and understanding popular phrases in multiple languages. We will also tour the Study Abroad office, cook a group dinner together using unique ingredients from around the world, watch an international film, and indulge in an exciting scavenger hunt that will help familiarize you with both the local community and our wonderful campus! At our first meeting we will talk about what everyone is most interested in doing as a group while engaging in some light ice-breaking activities to learn more about each other and the world. We hope you will join us on this awesome adventure to explore your international interests!

Outdoor Skills & Adventure: The greatest playground given to humans exists outside our doorstep. The outdoor adventure group is here to take advantage of the wonderful outdoors and provide opportunities for new students to be introduced to outdoor recreation, leadership, and adventure! This group is aimed at orienting participants to the outdoor scene in Fort Collins and the surrounding areas. Also, we welcome all skill and interest levels, so no experience is required! Along with experiencing hiking, climbing, and challenge ropes course, the experience will also focus on skill acquisition linked with the outdoors. Undoubtedly adventure drives us all, and fuels our desire to never stop exploring.

Photo "Phrenzie": Photo “Phrenzie” is a group for individuals who are interested in photography from all experience levels. This group will serve as a way for students experience their first semester at CSU through the lens of a camera. Sample activities include: experimenting with perspective on the CSU Ropes Course, portrait photography, photographing CSU pride at a CSU football game, learning about prominent photographers, investigating photo techniques and much more! Don’t have a camera? No problem! One can be provided for you!

Ram Writer's: This group is formed around an interest in creative writing (poetry, fiction, non-fiction, lyrics, you name it!) We will be making journals, attending slam poetry readings as well as local readings put on my CSU and venues in town, experimenting with different writing styles, presenting our works of writing to one another in our own group readings, and spend time appreciating what inspires us to write. Not only will we be participating in writing centered activities, but we will also look for inspiration in our writing that comes from other places in our lives like art, music, nature, ghost stories, etc.

RamQuest: The Challenge: Welcome adventurers, do you enjoy strategy games (like chess and Risk) and other challenges?? If so, this group is for you! All students with an aspiration for world supremacy (figuratively), or just those with incredibly good taste, are cordially invited to join RamQuest. This group, among other things, will challenge you in ways unimaginable. Conquering the world is by no means and easy feat and only those tempered to excellence can even hope to succeed. RamQuest will provide a myriad of challenges testing wit, determination, and fortitude. The contestants will be divided into groups that will compete for supremacy among the various required disciplines — intelligence, strategy, Lightsaber combat, ultimate discus throwing, and so much more. RamQuest welcomes you.

Somos Rams with Culture and Pride: Latino/a Students: The Somos Rams group provides new Latino/a students with the opportunity to establish your extended CSU family and the resources necessary for your success here in college. Additionally, through this experience, you’ll develop connections with other new students. Activities will include, hiking the “A”, cooking meals together, a panel of students who are involved and engaged on campus who will help introduce you to resources, learning time management and about the many resources to assist you academically here at CSU and any other ideas you may have!

Space + Place: Exploring Interior Design and Architecture: Join us to investigate the “power of design.” Designers are empowered through their problem solving adventures to solve diverse social problems, create beautiful spaces and structures, alter people’s behavior, and have FUN! This interest group will engage you in activities including building with food, checking out what designers and architects actually do in their studios and offices, developing skills to successfully advance through the Interior Design Scenario next April, while exploring the building blocks of design. Our activities take you all over Fort Collins to participate in hands-on activities culminating in an Italian feast in the home of the faculty mentor celebrating international design. Have you ever wanted to design a room, build a building, create a space – then this group is for you!

Is “sustainability” a word that crosses your mind when you water your lawn, eat dinner or take a shower? The focus of this group is water conservation in Fort Collins- who uses it, how it gets to our sinks and how to use it wisely! We will do service projects, improve personal water conservation, travel to natural areas, watch documentaries, and find silly, fun ways to raise awareness about this important resource. What Are You? Discovering Multiracial/Multicultural Identity: What are you? If you are multiracial or multicultural you have probably been asked that question before. This group is designed to explore what it means to be multiracial, multicultural, biracial, hapa, mixed, or mestiza. We will share our stories and experiences as part of this unique and growing population. Our discussions will focus on the many ways we identify, the challenges we face and the strengths we possess. Activities include movie nights, leadership development, community service, group dinners, and self-expression through the arts. Through the series of dynamic programs, you will develop your individual identity and a sense of community with the group. By the end of this class, you will be able to clearly and proudly answer the question "what are you”?
Women Interested in Fitness

Women Interested in Fitness: Women of all fitness levels who are interested in starting their first year on a healthy foot are welcomed to join us at the Rec Center for weekly discussions, work-outs and educational, hands-on sessions. Topics to be covered include “Deconstructing the Dining Hall,” “Personal Training 101,” “If the Shoe Fits,” “Your Best 5K,” “Top Trails,” “Smart Snacking,” and more. Alternating between informational sessions, hands-on workshops, group work-outs and engaging guest speakers, we’ll engage in conversations that include the discussion of different fitness resources/gear guides to friendly foods on campus, ways to alleviate stress, and how to properly mold your work-outs in order to obtain your personal fitness goals . No matter your fitness interests or level of expertise, we encourage you to come out to join us!
