Student staff positions in OTP include:

  • Orientation Leader - Hired during the fall semester
    Orientation Leaders have various responsibilities, which include working in a positive manner with other members of the Orientation and Transition Programs team, academic advisors, campus representatives, students, and family members/guests during summer and fall orientation programs.  During these programs, Orientation Leaders assist first-year and transfer students in developing academic effectiveness, peer relationships, and personal adjustment to CSU through small and large group discussions, individual peer interactions, and educational presentations. (Hiring occurs during the fall semester for the upcoming summer and fall programs).
  • Orientation and Transition Programs (OTP) Office Assistant - Hired during the fall semester
    OTP Office Assistants have various responsibilities, which include working in a positive manner with other members of the Orientation and Transition Programs team, campus representatives, students, and family members/guests during all Orientation and Transition Program programs, including orientation events such as: Camp 1870, First Year Student Networks, Mountain Experience, New Student Seminar, Ram Orientation, Ram Welcome, Transfer Programs @ CSU, and Year 2 @ CSU. During these programs, OTP Office Assistants coordinate and perform office processes such as answering phones, proofing and preparing materials, navigating the reservation system and Orientation and Transition Programs website, composing professional and accurate email correspondence, problem solving, etc. (Hiring occurs during the fall semester for upcoming spring, summer, and fall).
  • First-Year Network Leaders - Hired during the spring semester
    First-Year Student Networks are a non-credit opportunity for first-year students focused on assisting them in their transition to CSU. First Year Mentoring Program groups are made up of one upper-class Network Leader and a small group (approximately 5-30) of first year students. Networks meet regularly throughout the fall semester and are based upon an interest, passion or identity
  • Transfer Transition Leader - Hired during the spring semester
    Transfer Programs @ CSU provide opportunities for transfer students to transition into and become a part of the CSU community. Transfer Programs @ CSU include Transfer Student Orientation, Transfer Mountain Experience, Transfer Ram Welcome, Transfer Communities as well as other fall programming opportunities. Transfer Transition Leaders (a team of 10 students) serve as the primary student leadership team behind the implementation of these programs. Members of the Transfer Transition Leader Team work with various offices, departments and organizations on the CSU campus to plan, market and implement programs just for transfer students at CSU as well as serve as the primary mentors and role-models for new transfer students during the various orientation and transition programs for transfer students.
  • Ram Welcome Event Assistant Hired during the spring semester
    Ram Welcome Event Assistants serve as the primary workforce behind the implementation and coordination during Ram Welcome: Experience CSU. They provide substantial on-site support to Orientation and Transition Programs and the various Ram Welcome Event Coordinators with event production and general assistance for events; including (but not limited to): set-up, tear down, and preparation for the Ram Welcome Carnival, Ramapalooza, Convocation, the Parent & Family Reception, Transfer/Adult/Student Veteran programming and more. (Hiring occurs during the spring semester for upcoming fall).
  • Ram Welcome Leader - Currently hiring
    Ram Welcome Leaders serve as the primary mentors and role models for new students, families and guests during Ram Welcome: Experience CSU by leading a small group of students through the four day experience. (Hiring occurs during spring semester for upcoming fall).
  • Year 2 @ CSU: Second Year Programs Board Member - Hired during the spring semester
    The Year 2 @ CSU: Second Year Programs Board provides an opportunity for students interested in assisting second-year students in their transition at CSU. The board consists of 6 members who work with various offices, departments and organizations on the CSU campus to plan, market and implement programs just for second year students as part of Year 2 @ CSU. The Mission of the Year 2 @ CSU Board is as follows: “The Year 2 @ CSU Board believes that a student’s second year is about exploration, personal discovery and overcoming challenges. Using our own personal experiences, it is our purpose to guide each student through their personal journey in the second year. (Hiring occurs during spring semester for upcoming academic year).
  • Camp 1870 Camp LeaderHired during the spring semester
    Camp Leaders serve as mentors to Camp 1870 campers and facilitate group discussions within their small groups while participating in CSU's history and traditions camp that focuses on making meaningful connections with new first-year students through an exciting summer experience.
